You may be too busy doing your own thing when someone asks you a favor. Although he or she may be a close friend and you’d like to help, you just want to say “no” to him or her because you simply don’t have time! When should you say “no” when your schedule is full? Here are signs that you should look out for.
Normally, if someone asks you a favor, you would process it in your head and if you have the time, you would simply answer that person yes with ease. But, if you feel that sudden gut feeling that you don’t have time to do that, especially with a full schedule, then that’s one indication you’ve got say no. Another indication that you need to say “no” is if you show signs of stress. This is the direct result of having not enough rest and the signs are associated with fatigue, headache, and malaise. Keep a look out for these signs because that’s your body’s way of telling you to get some rest.
Saying “No”
It is important that you consider the feelings of others when saying “no.” Be frank, yet polite in declining the favor, because you will learn how much easier things will be if you do it that way. The importance of being diplomatic can prevent misunderstanding and misinterpretation. Make sure you make it clear that you are too busy to help, but also say how much you are willing to help him or her out if it weren’t for the constraint you were in.
