With more emotional issues brewing in childhood, it is essential to keep a tab on the child’s development and the friends they have. Peers not only affect in the later years, but they are an important part of socio emotional development right from the start. Friends come and go but you need to help your child form healthy relationships. The founding stone is in helping the child be confident and as a parent, you need to have a healthy communication with the child to know more about their daily activities, friends they have and any issues they face in or out of school.
Teaching your children about friendships and healthy relationships when they are young is important and they will grow up to be responsible and mature individuals. But if you don’t, violence and relationships issues might crop up. The major problem that parents face these days is having little or no family time. But if you think that your child is facing lack of self confidence, insecurities or broken friendships due to any reason, it is your duty to ask about it and help them overcome it. - Keep a positive attitude: Children learn by role model and your attitude as apparent affects their development. Their ability to bounce back after fight with friends, criticism and even bullying depends a lot upon your attitude.
- Learning from challenges: Many children learn from their own experiences and become wiser in dealing with friends and peer groups. Most of the time, these opportunities help the child learn from the challenges they face on an everyday basis in school.
- Happy family: Having open communication and a happy family ambience can help the child develop a positive attitude, a safe haven where he or she can share problems and discuss any issues that they might have. So have the faith in your child’s ability to overcome peer and friends related problems by giving them the right atmosphere to develop.
