How can I help my child in Science?

Many a times, kids cringe when they have to study science as they conjure up pictures of dull boring lessons that never end or stuff that they cannot understand. But it is our duty as teachers and parents to inculcate an interest in understanding the basic concepts. But it is imperative that kids are helped to develop an interest in science by encouraging them to be curious. If you are looking for ways to make learning science fun, there are a variety of novel ways that can aid you in helping your child.
·    Encourage your child or children to be curious. Let them ask questions, talk to them as they seek answers to their queries.

·     Watch educative science programs especially the ones created by Discovery and National Geographic tailor made for different ages.

·    If you think only reading is important, think again. Taking kids to zoos, science museums, planetarium and even hiking can turn into an educative outing.

·    It is good to introduce your child to fun science projects and take them to the library and let them select books that can quench their questions.

·    Encourage them to develop hobbies such as collecting, making models, taking care of aquarium, gardening for after all, seeing is learning too.

Apart from these fun ways of helping your child in science, you can talk to the teachers and work with them to help your child. However, if you feel that your child is seriously lagging behind in science, having extra help during the week by hiring a tutor can actually be beneficial.
